The Vorwerk is a rare fowl with striking black and gold plumage. They are very hardy, adaptable birds with economical appetites! The Vorwerk is classed as a light breed, a dual purpose bird used both for meat and egg production. They are alert and active but are not seen as flighty in anyway. We have a lovely quartet which have proven good eggs layers, with a high fertility rate.
A pretty enquisative bird with a boofon!
Hardy, great characters, very friendly and active foragers and frugal eaters. It is quite unusual for them to go broody. This is a great bird for beginners.
The Double Laced Barnevelder is a large, soft feathered, docile and very good natured chicken. They are very tame and do not fly well. They are a very pretty bird with interesting markings and a beautiful iridescent beetle sheen on the feathers. Barnevelder chickens are a rare dual purpose breed producing about 180/200 large brown speckled eggs per year.
